We went for my birthday dinner. Even with reservations we waited over 45 minutes for our table. Server was nice, prompt and attentive. Until she dropped my dinner salad - complete accident - but she did not bring any more food out. I ended up eating 1/2 of my husbands food. The server never came back to the table. Another server came to our table with our bill - with my salad on it. We asked for the manager, who wasn't in. The bartender took off the salad that I never received. We were offered coupons for the next time we went. We tried again during the summer, this time sat on the patio (which is really beautiful). Food was undercooked and they "forgot" to discount the bill according to the coupons. Back to the bartender again, because the manager was not in. We again were offered coupons, which we declined. It's really unfortunate. The location is superb and it could be a knockout restaurant, but they fail in the basic service.
Went here for crab legs, I've had better crab at Red Lobster for cheaper. The restaurant is nice looking, with a great view but it's too expensive for what you get and the crab was dry and tasteless.
We love sitting on the patio in the summer time. It is right on the river. We've never been disappointed with our food and go here regularly.
My girlfriend and I were staying in Windsor for my her birthday and did not know of any nice places to eat. After seeing the reviews on here for the restaurant we were no too sure if we would go or not. We were VERY happy we decided to go. The food is awesome and the atmosphere is excellent too. We went on a friday night and they had live music. It was cool to people watch while we ate. Our table was right next to where the 'older' folks were cutting up a rug. Very cool place, go there if your in windsor looking for a good meal.
Excellent meal, excellent service and price the only thing needed is an update on the restrooms. Lots of food for a little price. Some different things on the menu. Definetly would go again. No not an owner or employee!!!!!
Last reviewer must be an owner or employee!! Horrible service, OK food, & OK atmosphere. Not much more to say. The view from the patio is nice, but listen to the "ignorant" people and avoid this one. (Second time here 1st review, first time about the same)
I have to agree 100% with the last reviewer; Anyone who has given a rating of one star on each category is ignorant. I mean, of course most people would not be so naive as to take a review like that seriously, but for those who may actually base their decision on something so frivolous, just FYI: it's obvious that these one star ratings are inaccurate and are rooted in emotion and not common sense. I am personally, at times, a hard person to please when it comes to food service. If the service is bad, trust me, I will let you know. Further, if the food is bad, again, I WILL let you know. This particular restaurant has a very laid back, natural atmosphere; I did not find it in the slightest bit outdated or grungy. The food was excellent considering the very reasonable prices. We were actually shocked at the size of the portions. The service was very prompt and friendly as well. I was extremely impressed and made a point of letting our waitress know. Service can be lacking anywhere depending on the staff, however, a little trick I have learned is follow the Golden Rule: if you are warm, friendly and inviting towards your server, you will, in turn, receive the same treatment; and in my experience, better service overall. Think about the situation logically: if you are rude or curt with your server upon first meeting them, they are probably going to treat you the same way throughout your meal. You may want to believe that your server is going to make you a priority but most people are aware of the naivety of making that kind of assumption. Your server could care less about you; especially if your a jerk; for all you know they have the cook spitting in your food. Lastly, people that come on here whining about their server ignoring them are the most abhorrent of all; if the greeter didn't run right to you the second you got in the door, it is because he or she is busy; obviously; take a freakin chill pill and check out the atmosphere or try and see what other people are eating to get ideas. Your not doing yourself any favors by getting all worked up before you sit down. The consequence is simply that you will have ruined your own meal before you even ordered; further, you will continue to increase your own agitation looking for the 'issues' you claim were the reason your meal was unenjoyable to begin with. IGNORANT!
Ate dinner here as part of a party of four. Was not our choice but I can't say I have anything to complain about. The service was prompt, the waitress was pleasant, the food was properly cooked and of decent portion size. The prices are not low but the dining room has on-the-water ambience that you won't get almost anywhere else in Windsor-Tecumseh. I scoff at some of the reviews where people have chosen '1' for all categories. That only makes me doubt their objectivity. I find it hard to believe after eating at this place occasionally that they'd rank a '1' in ALL categories. That's just over-dramatic. This place has decent value and would recommend it to a friend who likes this type of cuisine.
I grew up not far from this area and I always thought this place was known for its quality and good food. I can not believe what I was served. The halibut looked like it came from a box from the grocery store. The two pieces were very small and the breading was clearly not made at the restaurant. The vegetables were beans clearly also from the frozen food section, and the salad was nothing but that pre-chopped bagged stuff with kraft dressing. It was seriously not restaurant type food. In addition, the waitress forgot my soup, never did ask what we wanted to drink, and the whole idea of a candle on the table is to light it. Finally, a place with a menu in this price range should have something nicer on their outdoor patio. The old tables from what seemed like walmart and the plastic cups were just too much. Up your game if you want to be taken even half seriously.
mmmmm.... it was so good the waitress was great she helped us pick out the wine it was by far the best Valentine's Day dinner I've ever had.
We had the brunch. We had rented the reception room for an engagement party. The food was great, the room was set up just like we had requested. The waitress assigned to our celebration was attentive and quick to bring beverages as they ran out. Even acted as our photographer for group shots. Marquee had special greeting. We were so pleased that we're holding the shower and a graduation celebration there in 2008. party size was 32
We really enjoyed our dinner. The staff was friendly, the food excellent and the pricing more than reasonable. It's a great place to hang out, have a great meal and relax. When we were there they had live music. It's a vibrant fun place.
Waited 15 min. just to be acknowleged by the waitress, then another 15 min. for her to come back and ask what we ordered the first time she came. Needless to say over 30 min. and not even a glass of water! I can usually tolerate poor service, but this is the first place I ever just got up and left. WORST place I've ever been in North America!!
We love coming here in the warmer months for the view like the other reviewers. We've found that the blooming onion was not fully cooked the last two times we went (there was wet batter at the base) and we'd love a new menu with some vegetarian options. Nachos had cheese on the very top and were just a pile of chips under that. The place has great potential though and really is a unique location.
We visit here often because of the view of the water and the outside patio but also nice in the winter with a roaring fire in the middle of the dining room. We have never had a bad meal here. The sandwiches and wraps are especially safe to order for the fussy appetite.
This is not only a good seafood restaurant as I stated before the Prime Rib is fantastic. The service and the view here are both excellent.Situated between Lake St.Clair and the Detroit River over looking a undeveloped island, there are many interesting sights. To our surprise there was a live band in the bar area.We moved there after dinner to enjoy the music and dance.Interior renovations are noticeable and more are expected due to a new lease on the property. Also a new menu will soon be out keeping the favorites with some new items.(This info was given to me by the owner who we talked to briefly)A great night!!!
We visit this restaurant on a fairly regular basis, but I agree with a previous reviewer that the place needs an overhaul and updating! We mainly like it for the setting on the river and the patio dining in warm weather months. Prices are reasonable for what you get, but I think the menu needs to be updated as it has been the same for most of the past ten years since we first dined there! The food overall was pretty good and you get lots of it. I had the stirfry and there was enough to make two meals so I took some home for the next day lunch. The Bruschetta was a disapointment. The bread too thick and not toasted enough. Friendly service and as it was a slow night we didn't feel rushed. Overall decent value for the money.
I have been a long time visitor for many years for the only fact of the view and atmosphere. However the food has always been lacking and there are various pet peeves of mine for a restaurent. The building needs some serious reconstruction and renovations due to the grungy tired look it has had for many years. My last visit had old rotten limes for my corona and silverwhere with food particles stuck to them still. If it wasnt for the gaurenteed sales from the yacht club and the view thins play would be bankrupt in months.
