I used to live close to Kam Yin and went on a couple of occasions as I liked the food. The service is never good or friendly. I have had several take out incidents where I didn't get the food I ordered or I have waited over two hours. My aunt was with me once and complained about a dish that tasted like ashes, and they yelled at her and told her she was no longer allowed to order combos. I went with my mom once after that and they yelled at her because she made a statement to me about the service being rude. I will never go back and will tell everyone I know not to eat there. They shouldn't get away with treating people that way.

absolutely disgusting. me and my girlfriend dined there and were extremely disapointed. the servers were rude and impolite and kept on asking for the money. the food was cold and tasted dry and rubbery. it smelled disgusting. I feel sorry for my girlfriend though - she used to love chinese restaurants but she says she changed her mind because of this one

this restaurant has been my favourite for as long as i've lived in waterloo. there are many chinese cuisines nearby but me and my husband always make the extra effort to travel down to kam yin. the service is fast and the food is great. their chicken balls -- which is a chinese restaurant staple, are particularly better than other restaurants. they're more crisp and the taste of the deep fry oil is less evident.
I order food in.
Once it arrived and after the delivery person left, I realized that the one of the items I had order (BBQ Pork Ribs) were not in the bag. Instead it had a ration of Chicken Balls (which I hate).
Called them back to explain the situation.
They did not care. They said that they had sent what I ordered, that they could not change it and that there was nothing they could do.
Very rude manners.
The food tasted very simple nothing special about it.
Extremely consistent chinese restaurant. I've gone there for years, for both lunch and dinner.
Very good value, large portions, always fresh.
Any time I've tried Chinese restaurants other than Yam Kin, I'm inevitably disappointed. I use this restaurant as the bar to measure other ones against.
