The Feathers has been Toronto's authentic British Pub since Ian Innes opened the doors back in 1981. We have been serving up good food, good drink and good times for 31 years now. In that time, The Feathers has become known as one of the finest single malt whisky bars in the world.
I understand that new owners took over in 2009. They kept the cosy atmosphere and all the great Scotch, and they made the food a lot better. The place looks more spiffy now, too. The pub crowd that gathers there is very friendly, and the staff is very personable and attentive. My friends and I plan to go back -- often!
This pub used to be exceptional but has slid considerably over the past year or two. Staff turnover has been considerable and there seems to be a new barmaid every other week. Chefs are constantly being hired and fired and,in addition prices go up seemingly at random but the quality of the food continues to drop. One more thing, dont worry about making a reservation as you'll have your choice of sitting pretty well anywhere you want due to the "vacancy rate"
This authentic pub pours drams of whisky from its extensive list featuring more than 400 options from more than 100 distilleries. To help you choose a selection, there are whisky "tours" that allow you to explore some of the main whisky regions.
If visiting a truly
authentic British pub is on your list of things to do but a flight to England is out of reach, this place offers a reasonable facsimile. The Feathers, on Kingston Road, is all glossy wood and fine beers. Along with the extensive list of domestic and imported draughts, they have one of the best selections of Scottish single malt whiskey anywhere. Pull up a seat and sip away.
