In November 1990, Peter Fowler and Del McMillan created the first Jack Astor's in St. Catharines, Ontario. Since then, Jack's Astor's has grown to 26 locations throughout North America.
We visited Jack Astor's recently to celebrate a birthday and the service we received was horrendous. The servers were flat out rude and unaccommodating. They grew impatient with our group for "not sitting in the same seat all night" (its a birthday... ?) and spent 30 mins to clean up a small spill on the table leaving many of us standing around waiting to place dinner orders until it was taken care of.
Mind you, we are a group of well behaved professionals... we were by no means obnoxious or ill mannered..
I have been here in a smaller group or as a couple before and had no problems so I am assuming the pressure of a larger crowd simply brought out the worst in our servers as well as the manager. We had problems with everything from cleanliness, food and drink orders, our bills ...
This place is a great place to grab a few drinks and bite to eat.. but looking to celebrate an event with a large group...? I pray that you don't receive our servers or the horrible service we encountered.
First visit to this location, November 14 2009. Very large and spacious. Seated quickly, friendly staff. The Montreal style sandwiches were piled high and very tasty. My wife's Quesadilla and Caesar salad were very good. One negative aspect was the loud background music. We asked for it to be turned down and it was. The waitress was very nice.
