Under new ownership

After waiting more then two month finally the Filou opened again. Ordered as usual the Rotterdam. We were really glad to see the old menu and the familiar faces and the same friendly service. Way to go. Never take that Sandwich of the list

Hawaiian to usher in spring

I came for the baguette, half the fun is choosing one.I pondered the turkey and cranberry... safe choice but it was a unusual spring day so I wanted something more interesting.( unusual spring day because it is Orillia and thus it is the snow belt , yet on the mid of March I strolled through the down town dressed in a light jacket and open toed heals!) I was convinced the Hawaiian was a sure bet and a refreshing change. Its important to understand that half of the meal is in the ambiance , with the talented local artists works which adorns the walls the time it takes to create such unique sandwiches is lost in admiration of the talent of the community.I ask for a glass of white wine, which was very fruit forward displaying tropical notes, lime and golden apple and , yes pineapple.I was confident my choice of baguette was going to be more of a wine and food marriage then a simple match.I was not disappointed. The black forest ham and swiss cheese were warm to the point of slightly melted and the pineapple complimented the black forest ham( the wonderful waitress suggested this cheese combo)the sweet pineapple and lettuce added a crisp texture to contrast the softness of the ham and cheese. She also suggested a curry dip which if you have ever had such dip is the fragrant soft sweet spices not the hot curry we often are relate to curry.(think sandalwood or garam marsala) Price, food, service and atmosphere rates this as a nice spot to share with good company on a local shopping expedition. While wondering the wonderful boutiques of Orillia might I suggest grabbing some wonderful cheese curds farm fresh btw from Quaker Oaks across the road.the actually SQUEAK!

My girlfriend and I went to Filou Bistro for the first time and let me say that it was a delightful experience! The food was fantastic as well as the service. We both agreed that it was a good experience and that we should return soon to try a different sandwich on the menu. Recommend Filou Bistro for a wonderful lunch spot A++

If you're looking for an everyday, ordinary sandwich, that's what you'll get. Nothing too exciting, but not offensive either. I felt the andwich could have looked a bit better or more substantial, but the prices were reasonable. There really isn't any wow factor to get you to come back for more.

Filou Bistro catered a luncheon for our firm. The sandwiches were still warm from the oven and the salad was amazing. We will use them again happily.
