"Upon entering, d...

"Upon entering, don’t let yourself get too confused by the wide variety of breads, pastries, cakes, even a fridge of cheeses. As you will make your way to the back of the open space and slightly up on the ramp, you will find the actual restaurant" "The Breakfast Wrapped-Up was our favorite. It came wrapped in whole wheat tortilla with sour cream right on top. The plate was shared by a mountain of refried beans paste, a corn salad and a mini-dish of a sauce" Just a few bites of our experience.

Just a quick trip in from out of town.

I emailed the bakery in advance inquiring about how much selection they would have later in the day, and within a few hours I got a reply that I could order in advance (even though I was outside of Kingston). The bakery was pretty good at replying about costs, but not really on the size (length, width, weight). The outside exterior of the shop is very unique. Standing out from other shops. It was a little difficult to know where to stand to pick up orders, and navigate around other customers to get to the cash to pick up the order. We enjoyed the French Batard. The Whole Wheat Buns were okay, but oddly shapped. I was hoping the Rosemary Breadsticks would be delicious, but that was only after I scraped off the yellow coloured flour, warmed it up, and put on some butter! I was a little bit disappointed because I remember 5 years ago being invited to a dinner above the bakery, and that was amazing. Would I come back again? Only to try it out again, or just a treat.

Come for the bakery, stay for lunch

Not much I can say that has not already been said. the food is top notch, but you pay for waht you get. This is not your typical lunch menu, but well worth the stop. Grab some bread, cheese, baked garlic and dragon noodles for the trip home.. mmmm

Second visit was just okay

My husband and I stopped in here a year ago on our honeymoon and loved it. So, naturally, when we had the chance to stop in again, in passing, on our anniversary, we were excited. The menu was disappointing, however. I gather it changes quite regularly? I have no idea, but just as last year, I had a hard time choosing something from the long list of appetizing sounding items, this time I had a hard time choosing something I wanted to eat. I ended up with the "meaty burger", and it was okay. Nothing to write home about. If anything, I found the rosemary too overpowering. It even overpowered the mayo and ketchup! And ketchup usually masks just about any taste. The fries, however, were very good. My husband chose a cold sandwich, and he said it was tasty. He also enjoyed the fries. The pot of tea I ordered was not good. The brand was Mother Tuckers or something like that. Give me Red Rose, or don't bother. Despite the fact that I let it steep a long time, it tasted like brown hot water and little else. Please - change the brand for next time. It is a pet peeve of mine when restaurants cheap out on little things like that, like substituting no name ketchup for Heinz. Small detail - big impression. Finally, the tables are WAY TOO CLOSE together. We are not overly large people, but we are tall, and I found that both of us were continually knocked by passersby, and more than once had to pull our chairs in while eating. What a nuisance! Thin out the tables and give people more elbow/breathing room!! It's not a greasy spoon, but the comfort level is about the same. It gives the impression that the owners wish to bum rush you out of there...eat and go! Not good.
