We were very excited to spend our New Year Eve dinner at Tholos Greek restaurant but what a disappointment!!!!. We were there last year 2021 and decided to come back for the same 1st seating in 2022 .Menu completely changed! No appetizers at all , no even bread ! Even if you pay for it !’ That is the minimum you can expect bread!. My teenage kids had to get kids menu because the menu was not what they were expecting ! No calamari’s , no chicken souvlaki’ nothing you can expect from a Greek place
Was at Blue Mountain over the Thanksgiving Long Weekend and was looking forward to checking this place out! The service was alright but the food was great! Combine that with the atmosphere and it was a great dinner, overall. The restaurant is designed like an outdoor courtyard.. there is stuff going on everywhere and much attention to detail has been invested. The Flaming Saganaki was great and the traditional Greek dancing was better! If you go do Blue Mountain definitely try this place out for at least one dinner.. It is a touch expensive but definitely worth it for the experience.
One of the better restaurants in the village, tied with Oliver & Bonacini. Not a very consistent restaurant (service, food etc). In some cases we had exceptional service and in other cases was very poor (depends on the server). We had a woman on the upper floor last time who wasn't as pleasant or accomodating as the other server staff. We go there for their greek salad. It is always fresh and they import the feta. Dinners are usually good. Stay away from the specials though. I dined there two nights in a row (Fri & Sat night) and both times they were a disappointment. The red snapper tasted fishy (the whole fish tasted like the fish meat you get around the head) and the leg of lamb was very tough. I've had success with their moussaka and souvlaki. One note of concern though, is that I have been sick (loose bowels, cramps etc) twice now the day after eating at this restaurant. I will be dining there again this Saturday and will reserve final judgment on the quality of their food (and handling procedures) until then.
I was very excited about going to Tholo’s at Blue Mountain in Collingwood. I really enjoy Greek cuisine and I am a frequent customer on the Danforth in Toronto. When we arrived they told us it would be a 40 minute wait. We didn’t get our table till two hours later; we still could not wait to try the food. We thought the restaurant was worth waiting for. We were all very hungry, but the restaurants looked very nice and we assumed the food would be delicious. I am not the type of person that even writes reviews but when the food came out, I was so disappointed. Every single person at our party was completely offended with the food and how overly expensive it was. We expected food that would have been full of wonderful Greek spices. All of us found the food very bland and not impressed. Needless to say for such an expensive restaurant and not flavorful food I don’t know how it was so busy. It must have been tourists that gone once and do not return.
Worst food and service ever! We had made a reservation for Saturday which got bumped because they only want to take large parties which should have been my first indication that something was wrong but a glutton for punishment we went back on Sunday and got a table outside ( by the way there were at least 15 tables available on Saturday when we got there but they said they were all taken) The staff really has no idea what they are doing but we were there for the food. The food was awful, my potatoes had dirt on them and one of them was actually rotten. The meat was sub standard at best and everyone else at my table experienced the same thing. Whoever is the cook ( I will not say Chef) should really go back to cooking at the burger joint that they came from. When I pointed out to the waitress ( in a nice tone) what had happened with my meal, she said not my problem and then dropped the plate so the offending rotten food would not go back to the kitchen. I spoke with other restaurants in the area and told them about our experience and they told me that a lot of people complain and they can not forsee that restaurant sticking around too long - food is ill prepared, costs way way too much for what you get - SAVE YOUR MONEY, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!
