My mother, grandmother and I had gone out back in October for my birthday. Two words. So good! I would recommend this place to anyone craving a great, authentic Japanese meal. The service was quick, the waitress was friendly, and I cannot enthuse enough about how good their food (especially miso soup) is. For me, miso soup was a little bowl of pitiful flavor to tide you over while your sushi was on it's way and I'm not a soup lover anyways; however, this soup has set a high standard for soups everywhere! Of course the rest of the meal was equally delicious.
For a good meal at a good price, I recommend the Sushi Obento! You get lot's of variety for about $17!
When you walk in they look up and say "irashaimase" which means welcome. It's a nice touch. Everything I've ever ordered at this little restaurant has been delicious and of the best quality! The seaweed salad is amazing! You must try it. The tea they serve tastes like toasted rice mmm.... The green tea ice cream is a real treat to top off your meal.
I love this restaurant!! Not having a sushi restaurant in the city I live in, this is where I eat nearly every time I travel to Saint John.
The staff is friendly, and the food is fantastic. I don't eat sashimi, so can't really comment on that aspect, but have ordered nearly every roll on the menu at some point, and all have been excellent! A favourite of my sister & I is the Octopus roll. Although last week when we were there we ordered the Octopus, Lobster, Dragon, and SOT Special roll and they were all phenomenal!!! Also, Miso soup comes with the order of any roll. It was very nice. I know Miso soup seems really simple, but I have had some BAD Miso in some places before. We split the Mariniated Squid for an appetizer and both had a glass of white wine. No dessert was necessary!!
The only thing that really could use some imporvement is the decor. But they are a small, simple restaurant, and are letting the food speak for them!!! Will return over & over again, almost worth making a trip just for dinner!!
I can't say enough good about Sense of Tokyo. The authentic Japanese cuisine is amazing. Their sushi rolls rock! Their soft shell crab rolls are amazing! The service is very friendly and your greated as soon as you walk in.
