Le Local, in Old Montreal on William Street, has a wonderful terrace out front that is partially covered to provide some shade. Surrounded by plants, you won’t feel like you’re in the city! Like most good French restaurants, they serve up a great duck confit dish with crispy skin, and a salmon tartare with the perfect amount of truffle oil. The restaurant itself is gorgeous so if you don’t get to sit outside it's not a total loss.
While Lucille’s doesn’t take reservations, this shouldn’t deter you from waiting for a seat on their terrace. Overlooking bustling Monkland Street in NDG, the terrace is the perfect spot to enjoy Lucille’s famous Bloody Caesar, piled high with oysters, shrimp and a crab leg. If you’re a large group, order their seafood tower, and of course, oysters are a must. With aged steaks, grilled octopus, and sweet lobster rolls, everyone passing by this terrace will be jealous!
Deville Dinerbar is a retro-style eatery on Stanley Street in downtown Montreal. If you’re lucky enough to grab a table on the terrace located at the back of the restaurant, you’ll enjoy a little tranquility and fresh air. Don’t worry if it starts to rain, Deville has you covered with a canopy. Indulge in one of their fishbowl cocktails to go along with their many appetizers like the mac n' cheese fried wontons or tuna tacos! Their appetizers are a lot of fun and perfect for sharing.
Leamac is a quintessential French bistro located on Laurier in Outremont. While the inside of the restaurant is gorgeous, sitting in the terrace/solarium is bliss, especially when it’s enjoyed with a bottle of Bordeaux and classics like tartare or duck confit. Rain or shine, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a night out with the girls or a date, and they serve brunch on the weekends! Be sure to save room for their famous pain perdu dessert, thickly cut and smothered in maple caramel topping with ice cream.
Le Pois Penché in Montreal’s downtown core offers up an elegant French bistro reminiscent of 1940’s France. And what could be better than a bustling terrace directly on the busy Maisonneuve Street, right on the sidewalk in true French fashion? While pedestrians walk by your table, enjoy the fresh seafood from their well-stocked raw bar or indulge in decadent French dishes like their beef tartare or their duck confit and salad with salardaise potatoes. Bon appetit!
This Little Italy café is the perfect spot to enjoy a slice of pizza al taglio – we think it’s the best in the city! We love going for an expertly made cappuccino, alongside one of their delectable pastries, whether it’s a bombolone filled with luscious crema or chocolate, a cannoli or their tiramisu. San Gennaro shares their terrace with Bottega restaurant, and it fills up fast in the warmer months. It’s great for lingering on a leisurely afternoon with a scoop of gelato while you watch the world go by.
Fino is located on Sherbrooke Ouest, and their courtyard terrace is hidden behind this Italian restaurant – a breathtaking Versailles-inspired garden nestled between a 40s-style apartment building and the restaurant itself. It’s also covered by a white tent, so there’s no worries if the temperamental Montreal weather doesn’t cooperate. The hedges and marble statues add to the atmosphere as you enjoy spectacular Italian pasta dishes with a bottle of wine.
