Edmonton veggie burgers you must try

Edmonton isn’t where you’d expect to find vegetarian food, but think again. Some of the best veggie burgers can be found in the prairies. Whether you’re jumping on the “Meatless Mondays” bandwagon, or whether you’re a devoted herbivore, get your veg on at any of these fab finds.

LOCAL Public Eatery South Common

1
1820 99 St NW, Edmonton, AB T6N 1M5

hey prepare their very own, house‐made veggie burger, served on their also house‐made rustic seeded bun. Their fresh cut fries are delicious and we recommend the fresh tortilla chips and salsa to start.

The Next Act Pub & Grill

2
8224 104 St NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 4E6

he Drama Queen at The Next Act is their vegetarian burger option. Served with avocado, pea shoots and cheddar cheese, it sounds strange but is a perfect pairing. They also prepare a balsamic‐marinated grilled tofu sandwich, which technically isn’t a burger, but is definitely worth mentioning.

Delux Burger Bar

3
9682 142 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5N 4B2

Served on whole wheat flatbread, their “From the Garden” burger is a delicious vegetable patty, melted mozza, sautéed mushrooms and basil pesto aioli.

Blue Plate Diner

4
Main-12323 Stony Plain Rd NW, Edmonton, AB T5N 3Y5

Located in the heart of downtown’s warehouse district, Blue Plate Diner serves up some of the best veggie and vegan food in town (labelled on their menu so you don’t have to ask). Their veggie burger is super popular and they even make a junior‐sized version for those budding vegetarians.

Cafe Mosaics

5
10844 82 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 2B3

Where better to get a vegetarian burger then a self‐titled “vegetarian and vegan waterhole?” They have a list of eight “burg” options and a choice of four different veggie patties. The “Veggie” burg offers a more traditional burger experience, but for something more unique, try the “Taro Uno.”

Sugar Bowl Coffee & Juice Bar

6
10922 88 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6G 0Z1

nstead of having a traditional patty, try the portobello mushroom burger. The meatiness of the portobello cap is a perfect substitute. And, with chèvre instead of the usual cheddar, it’s the perfect complement.

Artisan Resto

7
10732 82 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 6P4

Here, they cook up their own soy‐free veggie patty stuffed with a bunch of veggies and topped with more goodness in the form of their signature chipotle sauce. Their grilled potatoes on the side are a nice twist to the traditional fries.

The Burger Joint

8
9132 23 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6N 1H9

They make a pretty mammoth veggie burger patty, probably the biggest I’ve seen. Choose your bun, your “meat,” your sauce, your (free) toppings and your premium toppings. Don’t forget a side of curly fries.

On a cold, snowy Edmonton night, nothing says lovin’ like a cup of hot chocolate. It’s no surprise this drink was originally dubbed the “elixir of the gods.” Regardless of the variety you select, or whether you opt for the simplest hot chocolate on the menu, all I can say is ... don’t forget the marshmallows.
You don’t have to travel to Paris to have a true fine-dining experience; you can enjoy an upscale dinner, complete with a five-course meal and fine wine, right here at home.
