Inspired by the artists in his family, Dany Véronneau completed a DEP (Secondary School Vocational Diploma) in interior design and visual presentation at the Centre de formation professionnelle Pierre-Dupuy (Pierre Dupuy Vocational Training Centre) in Longueuil after completing a DEC (Diploma of College Studies) in management at Cégep Édouard-Montpetit. To pay for his studies, he worked at a floor-covering store in Sainte-Julie, then assembled bicycles at Montavéloin St-Basile-le-Grand. Once his DEP was in hand, he progressed from being an expert in the decoration department at RONA to being in an administrative position in retail pricing at their head office. He then became responsible for production management at RCR International, a global weatherstripping and hardware products company.
But something was missing - Dany was born to bike. BMX, mountain biking, road biking, he loves it all, and whenever he can, he's outside hurtling down the trails. In his administrative position, Dany dreamt of having a bike shop of his own. He often visited a small bike shop in Ste-Julie called Re-ly Sport and when he was barely 32 years old, Eddy Perreault, the owner, told him: "You're here all the time! You should buy my store..." Finally, tired of dreaming, Dany took action in 2005 and bought the shop, which became La Bécane!
