Bakery and pastry shop Painnamou specializes in Korean products and desserts and is a true tasting experience for those who want to discover the culinary culture of Korea. “This is a unique bakery that serves breads, desserts and coffee. In Korean, the word ‘pain’—bread in English—is the same as in French, while ‘Namou’ means ‘tree’. It is representative of what we offer here,” says owner and pastry chef Richard Kim.
Richard is a native of South Korea, where he owned his own bakery. Since coming to Montreal in 2006, he had always wanted to recreate an inclusive place where Koreans, but also Asians and Quebecers in general, could enjoy his creations. “Since opening in the summer of 2014, we have a predominantly Asian clientele who appreciates the products because they are genuine," Richard explains. "Our clients know breads and desserts. We now want other Quebecers to discover these little pleasures.”
