Enjoyed a wonderful dinner with my family @ Rhapsody earlier this evening. Rhapsody is a very charming family-run restaurant located in down town Richmond Hill that serves traditional and authentic Hungarian and Austrian dishes. We ordered cabbage rolls and Wiener Schnitzel with coffee and apple strudel for dessert. The main dishes were absolutely delicious - best cabbage rolls ever! The home-made apfel strudel was also heavenly. The owner was very friendly and the service was top-notch.
I visit Rhapsody at least once a week. The food is always great, the service is friendly and efficient. The live music is a little too loud and makes conversation difficult
Great food, great service, great atmosphere!! An excellent place, everyone made welcome by Tibor,Joe and Ferenc. Great violinist on Friday and Saturday. Reservations a must on the weekend
We frequent this restaurant quite often, especially when attending concerts or shopping in the downtown core. The food servings are very big, however, so we select the goolash soup, and cabbage roll as h'or douvres and we are full with the two items, with beverages and bread. I am unable to eat a main course, it's just too much food.
Outstanding shnitzel but the goulash soup was grease in a bowl. Still love the restaurant but will just never order the goulash soup again.
We experienced Rhapsody last weekend & absolutely loved it! It has a wonderful, warm, welcoming feel as soon as you walk in. The owner is a charming woman and very friendly. Our server was informative and helpful. There was live gypsy music and the violin was excellent. The food speaks for itself--you have to try it to believe it. Hearty cabbage rolls and goulash soup--Schnitzel like I've never had ever before, not even in Vienna! I will return again to this gem soon & is definitely worth the drive up to Richmond Hill!
I have visited this restaurant many times and am never disappointed with the food. I challenge the "We Had Made A Reservation And Were..." reviewer to find better quality Hungarian food anywhere within the GTA. The only thing that i would improve upon is the service. When the restaurant is full to capacity (most of the time), you may have to wait, however, the end result is worth it. It's a family restaurant, not a 4 star!
I have visited this restaurant more than I have not been able to find another Hungarian restaurant in GTA that can match the quality of food this restaurant offers. Mind you that it is a family run restaurant and service is nothing to brag about, but the quality of food will cancel out any shortcomings in service.
We had made a reservation and were given a table (not reserved) at the front of the restaurant, right beside the door. We asked for a better table and were grudgingly given one. We had a female server but our order was first taken by a male server. He cut us off in ordering half way through, and left our table! We were ready to leave, but the female server came back and started to take our order all over again. It was shocking to be treated this way. There are other Hungarian restaurants in Toronto that do a far better job of serving their clients well. We shall make sure we patronize them in future.
excellent Hungarian restaurant. the goulash is served in a cast iron pot and brought to table with a ladle for you to serve yourself and guest. shnitzel is flattened very nicely and lightly breaded. served with choice of mixed veggies or red cabbage. also roast potatos and/or rice. my friend found the rice bland but everything else was tasty
We didn't plan on our visit, but we were glad that we dropped by. The food is excellent and live music is lovely. They are heavy on meat and I am not a meat lover, but the House schnitzel that my husband ordered was the best I've ever tried. The stuffed mushroom appetizer was delicious, and so was the dessert. On the down side I was unpleasantly surprised by the way I was reprimanded for not ordering a main course (I don't eat much in the evening and not fond of meat). They do have a comment at the bottom of menu that they require everybody to order a main course on Fridays and Saturdays. We were ready to leave but they graciously allowed me to have my salad, appetizer and dessert. This spoiled the mood a bit and made us feel unwelcome, but the food and music were so good that we were glad we came. Keep this in mind to avoid unpleasant surprises. The main course dishes are big and the service is very fast.
It was an excellent meal, and the only minor deduction for food was because it was a matter of personal taste rather than its preparation (for the duck). The schnitzel was amazing, but due to a previous encounter with schnitzel, I shied away from it, yet trying it from my partner's dish, I really wish I ordered that instead. Not too salty, and delicious! The service was impeccable, and the live music is something that is quite lacking nowadays, with a violinist playing around tables, and a keyboardist accompanying. The number of excellent reviews on this website goes to show, it is indeed a great place to try out.
Outstanding value. And very fast service. We frequently go here with friends before a movie and know we can be in and out in less than 45 minutes if that's what you want.
yummy, large portions, fast friendly and helpful service, and all at a good price. Have gone to Rhapsody numerous times and always love it.
Charming atmosphere, great food and personal service. This restaurant is great for main street in Richmond Hill.
Solid 10 across the board. Wonderful hosts, generous portions of incredibly delicious Hungarian cuisine, surprisingly low prices, and - on weekends - lively entertainment!
Excellent Food, Reasonably priced, delicious schnitzel, good atmosphere. Would definitely go back
Exellent hungarian food in a comfortable atmosphere.
