ok where do i start! It was a valentines dinner just for my husband and i we had reservations for 6:30p.m. got there at 6:15 got our table. we had to ask if we could get a waitress or waiter as we havent even been asked if we wanted a drink sat there for almost 15 minutes. a lady came over asked if we would like drinks so we ordered the drinks my husband had his regular stella on tap and i had dark rum and coke. Then about 15 more minutes someone else comes over his name was johnathan. he was nice we ordered garlic bread first. then we ordered I had peppercorn steak sandwich and asked for no potatoes but if i could have soup didnt like what they had so i asked if I could have french onion soup no problem! they didnt tell me its extra! my husband had the grilled chicken steak with baked potatoe. that was good. mine was tasteless it was fatty and it came with french fries when i asked for soup. the soup came with the dinner. i complained about the steak and the waiter asked if i wanted something else so he brought me a menu. i asked for the beef souvalki and he said the chef will make a chicken souvalki and i asked for a caesar salad it came with 2 screwers of chicken greek salad and potatoe and rice. it was really good. no complaints about that. we also had another drink each. I just want to say we wont be back i was very disappointed with service and the first meal i had. so much for a nice dinner. the good part about it we had a table beside the fireplace it was warm after its freezing outside. got our bill they charged us $6.00 extra for a french onion soup i complained the waiter paid out of his own pocket for the onion soup which is not our fault. gave him a $8.00 tip which he shouldnt of gotten but i think he was new. Another table complained about the food taken too long they were ready to walk out. but they didnt! Sorry delaineys get better service and make your steak better your restaurant was my favourite place to go for a nice dinner with my husband but not anymore wow sorry!
ok..where to start. Had visited before and decided to give it another go...will never go again. Waiter tried hard and was a nice guy, but the place was not that busy. No water offered to anyone at the table. Only a few of us ordered salad or soup to start but all of us ordered entres. We had to pay $1. per basket for bread and it arrived after our entres did. The food was not tasty...poor flavours, infact the prime rib - 1/2 the size of any seen before, no jus ontop and the pudding ontop was a hard dry blob. The filet mignon looked as if 1/2 of the outside was removed before serving and was overcooked. The pasta, cold and unflavorful...would we go back...absolutely not!
After dropping my car off at the dealership, I walked over to Delainey's on Saturday morning to try out their new breakfast. I was blown away by the portion sizes of their items! I could not finish my meal!
Delainey's has just recently openned Saturdays and Sundays for breakfast - what a great way to start the day!! The new breakfast menu is great, with tons of choices for the big eaters, the waffle lovers, or the healthy at heart. There is something for everyone!! The services was fast, and friendly and the food was quick to arrive. The food was great - not like they are just starting their breakfast menu - but like a tried and true breakfast restaurant! The fresh fruit crepes were amazing, the farmers omlette was delicious, and the homefries were wonderful with their hint of paprika. Everyone at our table shared their meals as we could not get enough of the different dishes. If you have not tried Delainey's breakfast, I definately suggest going next weekend!!!!!! You will be pleased with the food, the service, and the low prices.... .............don't take my word for it.....go try it yourselves!!!!!!!!
Time and time again I visit Delaineys and am never disappointed. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, the service was friendly and informative about the wines and food, and the meal was prompt and delicious! You can never go wrong with their specials, and the greek dishes are great......... ......Thanks Delainey's for another wonderful evening!
Not sure what happened but years back this place was great. But lately it's become a chaotic mess. I usually order takeout and it's become very inconsistent. Many times my order is wrong, and it's just a single order! For instance, today (which finally inspired me to write this review) I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki with a caesar salad. The portions were smaller than usual and my caesar salad had no caesar dressing. Just lettuce and croutons. Several other times they would give me the wrong salad altogether, or no salad at all. Other incidents includes the waitress claiming that items on the menu doesn't exist - yet it's been ordered the previous (and following) day! As for wait times on takeouts, they say it'd be ready in 10-15 mins. Yet I'll show up 30 mins after and still have to wait 10 minutes and still get the wrong order. There are times of course where my order is correct and the food is great, but the inconsistency lately has put me over the edge. I've permanently given up on this place.
Had a large group eating there for a birthday party. I found a lady bug in my ceasar salad and the waitress just took my salad away without apologizing or offering me a discount. My friend found a moving bug in her salad. Has their kitchen ever been inspected because they clearing don't properly wash their greens before using them in salads?! Plus, they used too much garlic which overpowers the other flavours in the ceasar salad. I suggest eating anything else besides the salads at this establishment because at least their steak was decent.
Been to Delaineys, many times over the years, I find the food and service slipping, the menu is out dated, My grilled shrimp weren't properly deveined and tasted a tad gritty, I wouldn't order them again. Our server Nicole was impolite and rushed us , She took our salad plates without asking if we were done with them, and we had to ask for dessert menus, coffee. and even drink refills. Overall there is better restaurants around Guelph with much much much better service, I wont be returning
Had lunch with two co-workers last week and although the food was not too bad, I am continually amazed at the amount of salt that is in these dishes. Delainey's...I love the atmosphere and the menu items taste good, but when I can no longer get my rings on later in the day...please consider reducing the salt! I would have meals here more often but will take a break from this place again...and hope for more in the Spring.
Went to Delainey's to celebrate my friend's birthday, had an awesome time. Food, Atmosphere and Service were exceptional. The server wasn't told about my friend's birthday however we must of mentioned it in conversation because she brought out a birthday brownie for Stacey. Thanks for the added touch Delainey's. We will be back.
this was my third and worst time at Delainey's, I don't think I'll return. Not sure why I even went back a second and third time, I think I was just hopeful. The menu design is hideous, it's so outdated and the graphics are so poorly done. They also haven't changed their items in years, there's nothing new. The staff are nice, and the portions are right for the price, I'll give them that. But the food presentation, selection, and taste are all sub-par. Not worth it really.
Second time being there, once with 20 people at christmas -loved it, Went again with 2 friends-loved it again. Prices are right for the amount fo food you get. Very quiet place- you can hear each other talk- you don't have to yell at each other. Decor is enjoyable- Overll- recommend it to anyone!
Nice staff, very comfortable atmosphere. A tad too cold though. Burger was overcooked. Waitress was very nice.
Went out to dinner with some friends, had a wonderful evening. We were sat in a private room that has just a handful of tables. Lights were dimmed, candles lit. Food, Service and Ambience was great, we will be back. To the person that wrote the review of the water, have you tried T.O's water? When we go out, we never order water, because this is not the only restaurant that we could talk about Guelph's water. Can't give a restaurant a bad review, for something that is free. Order a bottled water or perrier instead.
I know that the taste of the water was so bad that it destroyed our meal completly. Could only eat a bit of it and left for a fast food place. They need to install a Chlorine filter on the drinking water line.
It was okay, but not great for me. I've had several meetings here now. This last time, the waitress forgot to give us a bill, she actually rang us out as paid. Which caused a bit of a comotion as they tried to figure out what happened and how to give us a bill. I felt that the chicken parm didn't have any breading on it, and I didn't like the pasta they served it with. Felt like just noodles and plain tomato sauce. Nothing in the sauce. My friend said the jambalaya was good though.
I went to this place with my work for our christmas party dinner. When everyone finally arrived (there was only 6 of us) we were given menus and took our drink order. Water already comes with your meal so I had to ask for lemon. Waited until all the drinks were brought out (which was about 10 minutes later) to recieve my lemon slice for the water. Then our order was taken. There was a good 45 minute wait between giving our order and actually recieving it. I understand it takes time to cook, however it shouldn't have taken so long when the food wasn't even that good. The chicken was okay but the pasta was horrible. It had a very awkward taste to the blush sauce, almost as if it had been a bottle of ketchup mixed with some alfredo sauce. I'm a huge vegetable fan and the meal also came with one random piece of brocolli. Dont know what the point of it was, but it was okay, not steamed long enough but okay. The bill came 20 minutes after we were done eating so we didnt get a chance to try desert, which was okay with me as after my chicken parm and side salad my bill was already over 20 dollars. None the less, unless someone offers to take me out to lunch here, I won't choose this restaurant myself.
My husband and I went to dinner for our wedding anniversary, and since we hadn't been to Delaineys in a while, we decided to return. We found it to be just as lovely as we remembered it -- the ambiance is very adult and romantic, and we were given a secluded booth that was near the sunny window and was nice and private. The waitress was professional and attentive without being invasive, and she timed her service really well. Our food was very good. The spanakopita and the soup were both outstanding; the fettucine was a massive portion and quite wonderfully cheesey; and the filet mignon (special) was not large, but very tasty. When my husband mournfully mentioned that he didn't have enough roast potatoes (which are a must), the waitress quietly brought us a few more at no extra cost. They topped off our night with a brownie, decorated with a sparkler and "happy anniversary" written in raspberry coulis, and it was TO DIE FOR (extremely rich and chocolatey). All in all, it was a lovely dinner that helped make our anniversary evening even more special. We highly recommend Delaineys and will be back for sure.
So we went on this website to figure out a good place to eat in Guelph which neither of us have been too. This Delainey's had a good review so we decided to try it. I for one am not a big eater at dinner so I asked to order off the childrens menu. They said ya no problem. I ordered the hamburger with fries. It came soo burnt that I could barely cut it in half. Then we also got the soup which we amost had to pull out hair to get more crackers. The waitresses did not want to be there clearly by their actions towards us. I dont know if it was because we are young that maybe they didnt appreciate our service. Also when they asked us the what was wrong with our meals because we barely touched them we told told them how we felt. The manager came over in a a VERY ignorant manor and said I quote " You guys do NOT actually qualify to order off the childrens menu, so we are only voiding the hamburger because yes it was burnt" WHICH they should have known when they served it to us. She accused us of trying to pinch them for a free meal and I for one am appauled and it ruined our night!!!!
It was a wonderful dinner in a cozy private room. I been to this place a very many times but this was the first time we were sitting in this private room. Food was great but the service was little slow which I did't mind at all. I highly recommend this place....
