My girlfriend took me to Aji Sai for lunch for my birthday... we made our first order of 2 hand rolls, soup, salad and wontons... we waited 15 minutes after eating until having to wave down our waitress for a drink refill and another order of a hand roll and soup.. 10 minutes later we get our drinks and she tells us it's last call for lunch if we want to order... so we inform her we have already made our second order... we wait... and wait... and WAIT... finally we decide to leave (it had been 45 minutes after we made our 2nd order)... so we were both completely turned off... when we went to pay... we asked for a discount being dissatisfied with the service... as we are fairly regular patrons... after a mild argument, they agreed to give us a 10% discount on our meals of $10.99 ea.... we certainly didn't tip... and when we left the bill was over $26... so much for a discount.. and so much for valuing your customers... i'll have to think twice before going there again... the service is never great, but today was ridiculous!
We had to wait a very long time for the waitress to take our drink/food orders, but it was 5:30pm so it was understandable. Upon ordering, the food came out right away. We found the red dragon rolls too "loosely" rolled, but tasted delicious. For Barrie sushi, it was very good, however compared to Toronto restaurants, it would get about a 2. The table are extremely close together, and at times we felt clausterphobic. Other than that, it's a nice place to eat if you randomly feel like sushi but don't want to go far. I will mostly likely go back! :)
great sushi...pretty bad service since it's all you can eat (not buffet though)
Best in Class! For lunch for just over $10.00, you would pay easy 4 times that at other Sushi restaurant in town. I go here once a week. Yes, there is a communications barrier, but once you get to know what is on the menu, and what you like, ordering is a snap. The waitress will take your drink order as soon as you are seated, and when she returns with your drink (Which is almost immediately) she will take your order. Here is where the problem can occur. During my first visits to AJI SAI I was taking over an hour for lunch. If you don't order immediately, you will have to wait for the waitress to return, if you don't order all at once, you will have to wait long periods between orders. Once you know what you like, or at least enough to get you started, place your order as soon as she brings the drink. You will have your Sushi in no time. If you order in stages, you will wait much longer.
Not the healthiest sushi I've ever had, but absolutely delicious. Editor's note: Thanks Danny, for alerting us to spam.
