Kathryn Campbell first learned to dance at the age of five in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Dancing remained a part of her life when she moved to Victoria, BC and throughout the years as she began competing regularly in Canada, the US and Scotland. Eventually she returned to Victoria to gain her Associate Teacher's Certificate with the British Association of Teachers of Dancing and moved to Alberta in 1983. After graduating from the University of Alberta’s nursing program in 1986, she went back to dancing once again.
“I opened my dance school in 1993 in St. Albert,” Kathryn says. “By that time I had already taught dancing for seven years and couldn't stay away from it.” Not finished with her own education, Kathryn earned her Members Teaching Certification in 2009 and became a certified adjudicator through the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing in 2011. Kathryn runs one of the few competitive Highland Dance schools in the St. Albert and Edmonton area. Several of her students have competed on the national and international levels.
