On Sunday, Terry had a bento box with beef, chicken and tempura. The beef was cold and tough and chewy for being thinly sliced. The tempura was very oily. When we reported the beef was cold, the waitress investigated and returned to our table to explain that it was the chefs error and offer to take 20% off the cost of the cost of his bento box. My bento box was with no onions, the waitress explained that the sauce that was on the beef had onions in it.
Having moved here from Vancouver for just over a year, this is the place we go every time we miss Japanese food. Our favorite appetizer is the Dragon Eye Roll - deep fried sushi roll with salmon and green onion, with a light coat of tempura batter. The best part if the home made sauce that covers the roll. To be honest, I was skeptical the first time since I rarely go to a sushi bar to get 'cooked fish', but this is delightful and we order it every time. The sashimi quality is excellent. I was mentally prepared to part ways with the idea of fresh raw fish when I moved to the prairies, but this place have proven me wrong time and time again. I'd strongly recommend any sashimi lovers to try their tuna belly - it just melts in your mouth! Overall, I find it a great restaurant for small or group gatherings. The pricing is on the high end for me, but that's probably because I'm biased from the good and affordable sushi that I took for granted in Vancouver.

Edmonton’s oldest sushi restaurant also has a location in South Edmonton Common, making it the perfect spot to stop for sashimi after a long day of shopping. The restaurant is huge, so there is hardly ever a wait for a table, and you can also sit at the bar and watch the chefs work their magic. There are five different bento box options available at lunch, as well as a full menu. The veggie bento box clocks in at only $12, for veggie sushi, tempura, barbecued vegetables, salad and rice.
View this Smart ListSushi trumps turkey, in my opinion, especially since I don’t have to cook or clean. I also like to pretend sushi is healthier, although that is definitely debatable! Mikado is known for their super fresh sashimi, delicious meats cooked to perfection on the robata grill, and their massive rolls. I love their avocado roll, which is simple but filling. The restaurant is very family-friendly; call ahead to request one of the private tatami rooms, where your whole family can sit Japanese-style, with your table built into the floor.
